Juried Art Show

History
Since 1979, the Westman Juried Art Show is an annual event organized by the Arts West Council and hosted by various arts clubs and councils in the Westman Region of Manitoba.

The Juried Art Show highlights amateur artists. Artists resident in the Westman Region may submit up to two works for adjudication by the jurors. Awards include: Travelling Gallery selection, Honourable Mentions, People's Choice and Youth Awards (2). Jurors select 20 works from the Juried Show to form a Travelling Gallery which will travel through 22 communities in the Westman Region over the following year.

The purpose of the Juried Art Show is to provide amateur and emerging artists a venue for professional critique (artists receive an individual critique from each juror) and an opportunity to present their work to the general public.

ONLINE FOR 2021: Due to the uncertainties of the COVID pandemic, the Westman Juried Art Show will not be held in its usual format in 2021. Arts West Council is pleased to partner with the Manitoba Arts Network to offer the Juried Show in a new virtual format from July 1 - August 31, in conjunction with Juried Art Shows from Norman, Eastman, Parkland and Central Regions. Artists will submit photographic images of their work for exhibition in an online gallery. As usual, critiques will be written for each work by our jurors who will select 10 pieces for exhibition in the online Rural & Northern Art Show in the fall.
